For the past two seasons, the Miami Heat and their big three have been one the most explosive team in the NBA. But after back to back losses to the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks (without offensive weapon Carmelo Anthony) we all have to wonder if this team is losing its stride. Lebron James who is the best player in world, took the blowout by the Knicks especially to heart. “I’ve got to be better, I’ve got to be better,” James said. Then, perhaps as some sort of punishment, he stayed and worked out for an hour after the game.
MY question is…How much better do YOU have to be LeBron?!! James nearly picked up his 2nd straight triple double with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Clearly LeBron is the last person on the team that has to “be better”. So where exactly do the struggling Heat’s problems lie? Well poor defense is one of them. The Heat allowed the Knicks to hit 10-14 attempts from the 3-point line. Or maybe the Heat, in their coaches own words need to “respect the game”. I couldn’t agree more with Spoelstra. The Heat, although a force to be reckoned with in the NBA, have become too Hollywood for their own good in my opinion. Could they be lacking respect for other teams…perhaps it could be a feeling of superiority? One can only speculate. But one thing is for sure, after that embarrassing loss, some things have got be revisited.
