“Pop a lot of pain pills…Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels…Beat that p—ssy up like Emmett Till.”
Those are the lyrics that have ignited a firestorm of backlash from fans and civil rights activists all over the US.
Here is a quick Black History lesson for you guys:
Emmett Till was a 14-year-old African-American teen from Chicago who was brutally tortured and murdered in 1955 by white racists in Mississippi for allegedly whistling at a white woman. Till’s senseless death sparked the Civil Rights Movement. At the funeral, Till’s mother wanted to have an open casket so mourners could see her son’s disfigured face and the brutality up close.
Now do you understand why everyone is upset? You know, I don’t know if it is the drugs or codeine or perhaps Wayne has fallen off his skateboard one too many times! To reference having rough sex with a woman to the beating of Emmett Till is just a DISGRACE. I have been saying that Lil Wayne’s music has fallen off since The Carter 2, and this ignorant ish has confirmed it. I am glad EPIC pulled this garbage off the air.
EPIC STATES: “We regret the unauthorized remix version of Future’s ‘Karate Chop,’ which was leaked online and contained hurtful lyrics,” reads a statement from Epic Records, reported by the Associated Press. “Out of respect for the legacy of Emmett Till and his family and the support of the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., we are going through great efforts to take down the unauthorized version.”
No, how about get rid of the entire song. It was a waste of autotune if you ask me. Please make sure you click on the “disfigured face” link above so you can really “GET IT”.
