Last night Beyonce’s highly anticipated documentary”Life Is But A Dream”, aired on HBO. I thought all in all it was a good documentary. However, I would have liked to see less concert footage and more candid moments with Jay and Blue Ivy and perhaps more explanation of what was going through her mind during some of the performances that were shown. One thing is for sure! I am glad that Beyonce finally put to rest those surrogate rumors by showing the birth of her daughter and her growing belly. But we all know that there are still people who will argue that the woman still did not give birth. It baffles me. In the documentary, she addresses the surrogate rumors:
There is actually a lot of people that believes this rumor and it’s crazy. I guess there are some crazy celebrities in this world so we get a bad rep but to think that I would be able to be that vain. I respect mothers and women so much and to be able to experience bringing a child into this world. If you are lucky and fortunate enough to experience that, I would never ever take that for granted. It is the most powerful thing you can ever do in your life. And especially after losing a child, the pain and trauma from that, it just makes it mean so much more to get an opportunity to bring life into the world. It’s something that you have to respect. People should have boundaries, there is certain things you shouldn’t play around with and a child, you don’t play around with that.
I just so happened to read a tweet last night that said something like “Beyonce is like God to b*tches with low self-esteem”. I couldn’t believe it. But then I could. It is so sad that people can find something negative to say about this woman. Yeah, you may not like her music or perhaps she is not your cup of tea when it comes to her looks, but the all out HATE she gets because she prefers to keep some aspects of her life private is just astounding. What makes it really sad is that a lot of the hate comes from African-American men and women. Beyonce has been in the game for 16 years. She screams independence, love, femininity, and empowerment for all women and our people have to find something wrong with that. Just sad…anyways, watch the full documentary below for a peek into Beyonce’s life.
P.S. Beyonce IS NOT God. I have high self esteem that Beyonce didn’t give to me.
