Investigators believe that South African “blade runner” Oscar Pistorius may have been in a steroid induced rage when he killed model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day. Cops found steroids in Oscar’s home as well has evidence that heavy drinking may have been taking place.
“Steroid drugs were found at Pistorius’ home together with evidence of heavy drinking,” a source close to the investigation told The Sun of London.
In addition to steroids, police also found bloody cricket bat that they believe may have been used to crush Reeva’s skull prior to the shooting. Investigators are looking at three scenarios: that Pistorius used the bat to bash Steenkamp; that the blond stunner used it to try and defend herself during a fight; or that Pistorius used the bat to bash through a bathroom door after his gal pal barricaded herself inside, according to the paper.
“There was lots of blood on the bat,” a source is quoted as saying. “Forensic tests will show whose blood it was.”
South Africa’s City Press newspaper reported that Reeva Steenkamp’s skull was crushed which may explain the blood on the bat.
Investigators are also looking into whether a late-night text Steenkamp got from South African rugby star Francois Hougaard played a part in the killing, The Sun reported. Hougaard, a friend of both Reeva and Oscar, regularly exchanged tweets with the pretty blond and after her death tweeted a photo of the three of them at dinner with friends.
Well if Pistorius was in a drunken, steroid induced, jealousy fueled rage, that would explain the overkill in this situation. Earlier reports were suggesting that he shot his girlfriend because he thought she was an intruder. Yea, right.
