Richard Street, a member of the Temptations for 25 years, has died at age 70. Street’s wife, Cindy, said he died early Wednesday at a hospital in Las Vegas after he suffered a blood clot in his lung.
“He was really fighting for his life,” Cindy told CNN. “He’s a fighter. They’re dancing up there in heaven, him and Damon,” she added. “I’m in disbelief right now.”
The Temptations was one of the leading male vocal groups of the 1960s and early 1970s. Although Street was not in the original 1960s group, he joined the band in the early 1970s and continued for more than 20 years before going on to pursue a solo career.
I remember having their 1998 album “Phoenix Rising” on repeat when I was in high school. What can I say? I have an “old soul”.
RIP Richard, you will be missed.
