Rick Ross speaks to Q 93.3 radio station to “clear up” controversial lyrics

It was all just a misunderstanding. OR as Ross put it, “a misinterpretation” of his lyrics in Rocko’s new song titled “You didn’t even know”. In the song, Rock specifically describes putting a molly in an unsuspecting woman’s champagne glass and then taking her home to “enjoy” it. Read my initial article about the controversial song and then watch the video below. To me, he doesn’t even begin to explain himself enough or APOLOGIZE for the disrespectful lyrics. Ross’s explanation begins at the 4:30 mark.

  1. His arguement is that he didn’t use the term rape, but his lyrics describe a situation that is the epitome of date rape. This incident highlights a key problem that contributes to rape— people don’t know it when they see it. Slipping a girl a molly so she is too intoxicated to properly consent to sex is rape. Getting a girl drunk enough to say yes is rape. He says he doesn’t condone rape, but does he know what rape is?

  2. I’m frantically searching the interwebs trying to find out the name of the radio host who interviewed him. I would love to share some of my questions for him if I can’t get in touch with Rick Ross. As far as I’m concerned (both as a DJ who has done radio work, and as a journalist) his journalism sucks. He did not press Ross to answer his question and elaborate in full detail. Why? I have several theories, but we don’t even have time for all that. By the way, this is my first time on this blog, and I like what I’ve seen thus far.

    • Thank you so much for reading! Yes I am in total agreement with you. I was disgusted at the fact that another MAN did not push Ross for an apology or a least a better explanation than “it was a misinterpretation” of a lyric! I think we all interpreted the way it was intended to be. Again, thanks for commenting and please let me know if you find out the DJ’s name. So many of these radio stations have sold out and fail to ask these artists the tough questions out fear or “exclusives” or whatever the hell they get for playing nice.

Speak your mind!
