Oh my Lord! Acclaimed empowerment lecturer, recording artist, Pentecostal televangelist and author Juanita Bynum was arrested today in Dallas, Texas on civil charges according to Euroweb.com. It is alleged that Bynum was arrested on a Capias warrant.
A Capias Warrant is issued to compel someone to do something. These warrants are usually issued for a person who owes money based on a court judgment or who fails to appear for a civil hearing. Capias warrants are issued by the civil courts, so they are different from criminal arrest warrants — but that doesn’t mean you can’t wind up in jail on a capias arrest warrant.
Bynum has had some trials in the past few years. As some of you may recall, in 2010, she fought a lawsuit brought by former Def Jam Vice President of A&R, J.E. Jones, who said she stole a song he wrote entitled, “Soul Cry (Oh, Oh, Oh).”
Also, in 2007, Prophetess Bynum divorced her husband Thomas Weeks III after he beat her in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel.
No word as to what charges are pending now…
